Questions
Do I need to be on the same Wi-Fi?
Yes. Your phone and your television have to be on the same network, and it cannot be a guest network that isolates devices from each other.
Does it work over the internet or with an IR blaster?
No. TV Remote controls network-connected smart TVs over your local Wi-Fi. It does not use infrared, so it will not control an older TV that only takes an IR remote.
Why does it ask for Local Network access?
That permission is the only way an app can find and talk to devices on your Wi-Fi. Without it your television cannot be discovered. It is used for nothing else.
Can it turn my TV back on?
Sometimes. Waking a TV depends on its own standby setting — look for network standby, fast start or mobile power-on in its menus. Some models cannot be woken over the network at all.
